Margaret Veronica (Bossert) Franta

June 16, 1934 ~ February 9, 2018 (age 83)

Margaret V. (Bossert) Franta Gently passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at ManorCare in Springfield, Missouri. She was born on June 16, 1934 on the family homestead near Karlsruhe, North Dakota. Margaret (Peggy) was the ninth of 12 children of the late Mathias and Margaret (Klein) Bossert. After high school in Minot, North Dakota, she was trained as a nurse at St. Joseph’s also in Minot. She Married Arnold (Arnie) Franta on December 31, 1955.

Peggy worked for over 30 years as a Registered Nurse and was chosen to help care for former President Harry S. Truman at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, before his death.   She retired from St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Arnie and Peggy raised three daughters in Kansas City, Missouri.  They retired to a lake home in Hermitage, Missouri in 1995.  There they enjoyed fishing on their pontoon boat and many fun visits from their daughters and grandchildren.  Peggy also enjoyed painting, reading and quilting, leaving a library of books and quilts for her daughters.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Adolph (Mickey), Edwin, Edward (Eddie) and Aloyisious (Al) Bossert, and sister Regina Wyszkowski.

She is survived by her three daughters; Karla (Craig) Wilson of Bolivar, MO, Margo Franta Abdalla of Humansville, MO and Celeste (Ken) Barry of Norris, TN as well as 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one brother Leo (Kathy) Bossert of Junction City, OR and five sisters; Mary Keller, Velva, ND, Theresa (Dar) Wiley, Highlands Ranch, CO, Katherine (Kay) (Bud) Gefroh, Rose Ann (Rosie) Senger and Beata (Bea) Berndt all from Portland, OR.
