Louis C. Stika Jr.

June 1, 1926 ~ June 28, 2018 (age 92)

Services for retired farmer, carpenter, and mechanic, Louis C. Stika Jr. age 92, who passed away on June 28, 2018, at St. Luke Living Center in Marion, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3rd. The rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. July 3rd Both services Both services will be held at the Holy Family Parish in Marion with burial to follow at the Marion Cemetery.

He was born June 1, 1926, to Joseph and Mary (Oborny) Stika at their Family home on the farm east of Marion. He married his sweetheart, Sarah Fortmeyer, on October 17, 1950, at the St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. Two daughters were born to this union, Rita, and Janet.

Louis was in the army from July 26, 1945, to December 30, 1946, and received an honorable discharge. He was a T-4 – 295th Quartermaster and served 18 months of which ten months was in Germany. He was a member of the Marion VFW Post # 6958 and helped in its construction.

He was a lifelong resident of Marion and a member of the Holy Family Parish Church in Marion. He assisted as a carpenter in the construction of the church in 1951.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sarah (2016), brother Valarion Stika (2005), his sister Henrietta Waner (2015), his son-in-law Jeff Tomlinson (2013), grandson Gary Tomlinson (2016), great-grandchildren Lily Marler (2006), Corey and Mattie Marler (2006) and granddaughter-in-law Amanda Marler (2017).

Survivors include two daughters, Rita Tomlinson of Marion and Janet Marler and husband Doug of Marion; two grandchildren Kevin Marler and Karen (Donald) Webb; eight great-grandchildren Tori (Coty), Katie, Jackson, Caleb, Jimi, Emily, Tristan, and Tanner; great-great-grandchildren Briley and Greyson and a sister Victoria Smolik of Marion.

We have all been blessed to have had him in our lives. He is greatly loved and will be missed by many.

Memorials may be made to the Marion County EMS or The Father Kapaun Legacy Fund and sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St. Marion, Kansas 66861.
